The civilly registered (Germany) aircraft of the E.I.S. Aircraft are used by the German Armed Forces and NATO partners for air-to-air gunnery training and to train military air traffic control officers. The PC-9B is a two-seat target tow aircraft of the German Air Force. This target towing version features increased fuel capacity, allowing flight duration of up to 3 hours and 20 minutes, as well as two Southwest RM-24 winches under the wings. These winches can roll out a target up to 3.5 kilometers. The large cockpit is equipped with stepped ejection seats.
In 2018 the acquisition of E.I.S. Aircraft Operations, now QinetiQ GmbH, delivers a number of strategic benefits to
QinetiQ Group plc, including strengthening its capability integration, threat representation and operational readiness offering to customers, while accelerating international growth.
Like the E.I.S. Aircraft, the QinetiQ GmbH
offers airborne training services with an extremely cost-effective fleet of
Pilatus PC-9 and PC-12 aircraft. The business has established relationships with its customers as the exclusive provider of low-speed aerial training services to the German Armed Forces and other NATO partners since 1999 and it modifies aircraft for special missions through the integration of sensors and digital systems used in Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR).
